Suvi Ermilä (b. 1985 in Tampere) is a visual artist based in Helsinki. She often works with Indian ink, drawing nib and brush. She has published three comic books: Vastaanottokeskus (Suuri Kurpitsa 2021), Jälki (Suuri Kurpitsa 2018) ja Hauho (Suuri Kurpitsa 2017). ”Vastaanottokeskus” won the Comics Finlandia prize for the best book of 2022.

Theatre Workshop

Wed 3.6. at 16:30-18:30
Yuko Takeda will lead a theatre workshop exploring collective storytelling through imagination, body, voice, and presence. No prior theatre experience is required – the most important things are curiosity and a willingness to dive in. Storytelling is fun, liberating, and offers new perspectives on both self-expression and working together.
After the workshop you can participate in Myllyteatteri’s and Helsinki 98’s performance “Huolto 4:18”. It takes place at Vuosaaren Tilajakamo near the workshop space and starts at 19.00.

Creative Movement and Personal Dance – Improvisation Workshop and sharing of your own artistic work, or ideas of it
Location:
Eskus – Esitystaiteen keskus
Suvilahti; Puhdistamo
Building nro 6, 2. floor
Kaasutehtaankatu 1/33
00540 Helsinki
Mon 15.6. at 17.00-21.00 (1,5h workshop • 2,5h own work and sharing)
Wed 17.6. at 13.30-17.30 (1,5h workshop • 2,5h own work and sharing)
This workshop offers a supportive space for each participant to explore their own movement and expression in a shared environment.
Through guided improvisation, the facilitator provides movement prompts that range from imagery to body sensations, spatial relationships, and more. Participants are encouraged to respond in their own unique way, following their impulses and curiosity.
The aim is not to perform, but to reconnect with the body and creativity through movement. Following your own way of moving might bring up joy, release, energy, inspiration, freedom and acceptance.
The workshop draws from Henna’s favorite improvisation practices, shaped by over 20 years practise in dance, circus, and theatre. Influences include SOLU Somatic Movement Education (Satu Palokangas), Body-Mind Centering®, contemporary dance methods, Jacques Lecoq, Pulse, Viewpoints, and more.
After the attuning movement workshop together, the participants get time for their own artistic work and developing ideas or something ongoing. In the end of the day we share each other what we are working on currently, or what we would like to be working on. It is a possibility to share and articulate about ones own work in a supportive environment.
